Blackheads are caused from excess oil and debris (make up and lotions) clogging pores. The oils are then trapped and a blackhead forms that can’t escape the clogged pore. Getting rid of blackheads home remedies have been around for years, but only a few are truly effective.
Preventing blackheads is the best way to get rid of them. You can prevent them by using a medicated cleanser twice a day to reduce excess oil on your face. You should also exfoliate two to three times a week to get rid of dead skin cells. On days you don’t exfoliate, you should use a facial mask to draw out impurities. Try to only use water based cosmetics and creams and never use anything oil based.
Getting rid of blackheads home remedies often involve putting something on the affected area. One mixture to try is made by dissolving a teaspoon of Epsom salt and four drops of iodine in a fourth cup of hot water. Allow to cool completely and apply to the blackhead with a cotton ball.
Instead of your usual facial wash, you can make your own to remove black heads. Boil a cup of milk and add the juice of one fresh lime. Let cool completely before using on your face.
To loosen blackheads, make your own exfoliating scrub with green tea.
Another good scrub recipe for getting rid of blackheads home remedies is made with salt, lemon juice, and honey. You can also add plain yogurt to the scrub. Use to scrub your face for five to ten minutes. Then wash your face and pat dry.
You can use plain honey on the blackheads to draw them out. Let the honey sit on the affected areas for ten to fifteen minutes.
Egg whites are also good for drawing out blackheads and shrinking pores. Separate an egg and whip the egg white with a form or whisk until foamy. Put the egg white on your face and let dry. When dry wash as usual.
Make a mixture of a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and one teaspoon ground cinnamon. Apply to blackheads and let dry. Wash your face to remove the mixture after it is completely dry.
Apply fresh lemon juice two to three times a day daily for a few weeks. This is also effective at getting rid of blackheads.

Exfoliation is crucial for preventing blackheads. Exfoliating rids your skin of the excess oil and unclogs the pores before blackheads can start forming. Exfoliating two to three times a week is ideal. Any more than that and you will strip the natural oil from your face. Less oil sounds like a good thing, but your body is smart and it will produce extra oil to compensate.
Blackheads are a form of acne that are a yellow or black colored plug in the skin. They are not caused by poor hygiene, but rather by excess oil that has accumulated in the ducts. Inside the blackhead is mostly keratin and sebum (oil), both of which darken when oxidation occurs.
Clogged pores cause blackheads. Dirt, oil, and other foreign materials clog the pores. To keep them clear chose only non-comedogenic products. These are water based and not oil based and therefore less likely to clog pores. Skin toner is also important because it protects the pore by closing it which won’t allow dirt to enter.
Facial masks are very effective in preventing blackheads. Since a mask sits on your face for longer periods than a cleanser, it allows the ingredients to penetrate deep into the pores. Masks with fruit enzymes in them are great for getting rid of dead skin cells which is one of the top things that clogs pores. Use a facial mask one or two times a week for the best results to prevent blackheads.
Your hair needs its natural oil to stay soft and shiny, but that same oil can clog pores on your face and lead to blackheads. Try to keep your hair away from your face and especially away from areas prone to blackheads.
Wash your face twice a day with a medicated soap. A medicated soap will reduce skin oil which will prevent further pores from being clogged. Remember, excess washing will lead to excess oil production and will make your blackheads worse.
Exfoliation and facial masks are very important to preventing blackheads, but don’t do both on the same day. Try to alternate treatments every day to give your skin a chance to rest. Remember your body will start to produce excess oil if you strip away too much.
